#MakeItBlue returns with a new ‘Storey’
/Following on from the positivity of last week’s illumination of King’s College, we (with the help of our friends Pink Lamp and JMPS) once again lit up one of the city’s iconic buildings to show our continued support of the selfless individuals holding the country together.
Tonight was the turn of the architecturally stunning, Storey's Field Centre in Eddington. Opened in Spring 2018, this award-winning building usually provides a sense of community and wellbeing to the residents and admirers of this newly developed district through hosting vibrant cultural and social events.
”We’ve hosted many events at Storey’s Field Centre in the past and wanted to highlight the community-spirited connection Eddington has with the city, whilst bringing something special to the residents to enjoy from the safety of their homes. This award-winning building might be new, but it’s already a recognised landmark for Cambridge and we were certain it would look simply stunning whilst shining bright for our heroes” - Justin Crane, The Crane Event
This week JMPS, another local event supplier, brought some extra pizzazz through their speciality in projections. Director, James Merrigan commented . . .
“With our diary clear for the foreseeable future, I can't think of a better use of our time than showing admiration for the NHS and their supporting teams with our involvement in these projects”.
The centre’s manager, Richard Brown summed up the thoughts of the community perfectly …
“Storey’s Field Centre salutes our brilliant brave NHS staff, City Council workers keeping the city running and the city’s scientists working on tests, cures and vaccines. We look forward to welcoming everyone back when the danger subsides but for now, Stay Home and Love the NHS”.
#makeitblue is a national campaign bringing striking visuals to temporarily-redundant venues across the world. For the safety of all, the planning of this campaign was done from our homes, and the venue kept a secret until the lights were switched off.
